Table by Ganswati, including the household application currently called Sara's Table (collectively, “Table,” “we,” or “us”), is a private recipe-management service. This policy explains what information Table processes, why we process it, how we protect it, and the choices available to users.
Information we process
- Account information. When you sign in, Table receives basic authentication information from Google, such as your verified email address and account identifier. We use it to authenticate you and enforce household access controls.
- Household recipe information. Table stores recipes and information you or an authorized household member provide, including source links, ingredients, instructions, ratings, notes, meal plans, shopping status, and cooking history.
- Recipe and meal shares. When you deliberately share a recipe or meal, Table stores an immutable copy of the shared version, the sender’s display name and verified email, the recipient email you enter, an optional personal note, the recipe’s known source and lineage, and claim activity. The private link contains a high-entropy token; Table stores a one-way hash rather than the token itself.
- Recipe photos. If you choose photo import, your device sends a compressed image to Table and Google's Gemini service solely to transcribe the visible recipe. Table does not retain the uploaded image. The extracted text is shown for your review and becomes household recipe information only if you choose to save it.
- Cooking videos. If you choose video import, Table sends the uploaded video or media available through the link to Google's Gemini service to transcribe speech, read visible text, and prepare an evidence-labeled recipe draft. Table does not write the video into the household database. The editable draft, source link, uncertainty warnings, and evidence summary are retained only if you choose to save them or an authorized assistant submits them for household review.
- Pinterest connection information. If you choose to connect Pinterest, Table receives OAuth tokens and identifiers needed to access the boards and Pins you authorize. Table does not request or store your Pinterest password or session cookies.
- Technical information. Our hosting and authentication providers may process ordinary service information such as IP address, browser or device information, request time, and security or diagnostic logs.
- Communications. If you contact us for support or submit a privacy request, we process the information needed to respond.
How we use information
We use information only to provide and protect Table, including to authenticate users; operate private household recipe libraries; transcribe or import recipes at a user's direction; prepare deliberate recipe and meal shares; attribute a claimed share to its sender; preserve recipe provenance; maintain ratings, notes, meal plans, and cooking history; troubleshoot and secure the service; respond to support and privacy requests; and comply with applicable law and platform requirements.
Table does not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or use Pinterest information to advertise to you elsewhere. Table does not use Pinterest Materials to train, fine-tune, or develop artificial-intelligence or machine-learning models.
Pinterest data and permissions
Pinterest access is optional and occurs only after the Pinterest account holder authorizes Table through Pinterest's OAuth process. Table initially requests read-only permissions for boards and Pins. Table does not request Pinterest messaging, advertising, billing, or account-management access.
Information returned by Pinterest is used transiently to identify user-authorized Pins and their source links. Table calls Pinterest when access to Pinterest information is needed and does not use Pinterest API responses as a permanent recipe-content database. Durable recipe records are based on information supplied by users or obtained independently from the original recipe publisher, subject to applicable rights and terms. When Pinterest content is displayed, Table will identify Pinterest as the source and link back as required.
If Table later offers an optional Pinterest write feature, it will request the additional permission separately and will act only after a user deliberately chooses the specific Pinterest action.
How we share information
We disclose information only as needed to operate the service:
- Within your household Table. Recipe information and household activity are available to users authorized for that Table.
- With the recipient you choose. A share email includes the selected recipe or meal details, original source links when available, your display name, optional note, and a private claim link. Table prepares this message in your configured email application; nothing is sent until you choose Send. Anyone who receives the email can read its contents, but only the exact Google email address you selected can claim the share in Table.
- Service providers. Google provides hosting, database, logging, authentication, and optional Gemini photo/video-analysis services. Pinterest processes information when you connect or use Pinterest features. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies and only for the functions we use.
- Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users or the service, investigate abuse, or establish or defend legal rights.
We do not sell personal information or disclose it to data brokers. We do not share Pinterest API information with advertisers or unrelated third parties.
Retention and deletion
Household recipe information is retained while the household uses Table or until an authorized user asks us to delete it, subject to limited backup, security, fraud-prevention, and legal-retention needs. Unclaimed share links expire after 30 days. Claimed recipe snapshots and their provenance may remain in the sender’s and recipient’s independent recipe stories so each household can understand where its version came from; private edits, cooking activity, and household usage are not exposed to another household unless a user deliberately shares a new version. Table does not retain photos or videos submitted for recipe analysis in the household database; only the reviewed text, source link, uncertainty warnings, and evidence summary become part of the household library. Temporary copies may exist at the analysis provider under its operational retention rules. Pinterest access tokens are retained only while the Pinterest connection remains active and are deleted or rendered unusable when the connection is removed. Pinterest-derived information used transiently for an API request is not retained as a permanent Pinterest dataset. Service and security logs are retained according to operational and provider retention settings and are deleted or aged out when no longer reasonably needed.
Your choices and privacy rights
You may ask us to confirm whether we process your personal information, provide access to it, correct it, delete it, or provide a portable copy where applicable. You may also ask questions or appeal our response. We will verify requests as reasonably necessary and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
You can revoke Table's Pinterest access from your Pinterest account settings. You can also ask us to disconnect Pinterest and delete the associated authorization information. Revoking Pinterest access does not automatically delete recipes independently supplied by you or obtained from original publishers; you may request deletion of those records separately.
You choose whether to create each share and whether to send its prepared email. Recipients may ignore an invitation and let it expire. To prevent someone else from claiming an invitation, recipients must sign in with the exact Google email address selected by the sender.
Submit a request by emailing swati@ganswati.com. Because Table operates online and has a direct relationship with its users, email is the primary privacy-request method.
Security
We use safeguards appropriate to the service, including HTTPS, authenticated access, household authorization controls, least-privilege integrations, and restricted storage for credentials. Pinterest access tokens are not exposed to conversational AI systems or other households. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Table is not directed to children under 13, and Pinterest-connected Table features are not offered to children under 13. If we learn that we collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Table changes or legal and platform requirements evolve. We will update the effective date and provide additional notice when a change is material.
